Yaya Touré bid rejected

Some interesting news on transfers today. Guillem Balague has confirmed that City have contacted Barcelona regarding the transfer of Yaya Touré, but our approach has been rejected.

This follows an article in this morning's Sun which claimed that we've made a £24million bid for Yaya, and are pledging to double his wages from £46k/week to £92k/week.

Touré is exactly what we need - a big, powerful central midfielder who can run all day. Midfield is the side's outstanding weak spot, and there is a real need to reduce the burden on Kompany and Ireland. A trio of those two and Touré would be formidable.

I think a move is unlikely this January - Barca are competing for three trophies and need as many options as possible. I understand though that City plan to move seriously for Touré in the summer. And if we sign his older brother Kolo, convincing Yaya could become much easier.

Here is a sick goal Touré scored against Real Mallorca on Saturday.
