RSC bid made, turned down

Confirmation from both ends that a new bid for Roque Santa Cruz was recently submitted, and was turned down by Blackburn Rovers.

Mark Hughes said it was 'significantly more' than the £12m we offered in August 2008. He also admitted to making bids for Scott Parker and Craig Bellamy, but not for Shay Given.

But he left the door open to another RSC approach.

We still want to bring Roque Santa Cruz to the club if we can, but he's still Blackburn's player and at the moment they don't want to deal at the level we are at. We will make any future decisions in regards to their response
