Another mixed bag of a month: started shamefully, got better and then went bad again. Here are the games and what I made of them:
Bolton (a) 0-2 (player ratings)
Twente (h) 3-2 (player ratings)
Spurs (h) 1-2
Hull (a) 2-2
Arsenal (h) 3-0
Schalke (a) 2-0
United (h) 0-1
Player of the Month
Again, our two best players were Ireland and Robinho.
Ireland scored twice against Hull, and again in the Arsenal and Schalke games. He continues to dominate games for us in midfield, winning the ball in our half and bringing it forward, finding passes and getting in the box. Like Paul Scholes but with better tackling. Robinho scored ludicrously good goals against Twente and Arsenal (and a tap in against Spurs), but did go missing when we needed him against Bolton, Spurs and United (although he was not fully fit for the derby). I'd love to share it around a bit more, but I'm afraid for the fourth month running, the TLDORC Player of the Month award goes to ............. Steven Ireland.
Individual Performance of the Month
Ireland's three against Hull, Arsenal and Schalke, for the reasons stated above.
Goal of the Month
This basically depends on what I can find YouTube clips of to embed (or not).
But there were some good goals:
