City 0 - 0 PSG

  • We could have secured top spot by winning this one, but we didn't and so the game against Santander on the 18th is more significant than we would have liked it to be. The group winner avoids playing a knocked-out team from the Champions League and gets to play the second leg at home, so it's really something to aim for.
  • At half time a point was probably the least thing on anyone's mind, but by the end of the game I think the majority of fans were happy to compromise. PSG deserved to win the game and we were dominated in the last ten minutes.
  • After taking the attack to our opponents at the start of each half, we faded really badly. It's a miracle that we didn't lose. Zabaleta and Garrido were playing as wingers, three strikers were on the pitch and Ireland and Kompany were worn out in the last quarter. It wasn't a team set up to shut out the game.
  • There is a growing problem with injuries at the club. Elano limped off in the second half, joining SWP, Robinho, Richards, Fernandes and Onuoha on the "treatment table". And then there's the long term absentees that everyone has forgotten about: Petrov, Johnson, Etuhu and Bojinov.
  • On the subject of Bojinov, it seems that the problem with striker's isn't quantity but quality. At one point in the second half, there were four strikers on: Jô, Benjani, Sturridge and Vassell. I don't think any of them are at the moment good enough. Jô is lacking in confidence, Sturridge is too young, Benjani looks to me like a one-season wonder and Vassell simply should not be playing European football. Bojinov is just what we need right now, but it seems he's a long way off fitness.
