Vieira on loan?

The main transfer rumour concerning City today is not Iván Córdoba or Cristian Ansaldi but Patrick Vieira:
Unconfirmed reports from Italy suggest that Roberto Mancini's first signing as City manager will be Patrick Vieira, on loan until the end of the season.

City, who were handed a trip to Scunthorpe in the draw for fourth round of the FA Cup, are keeping their cards close to their chest, but Vieira is keen on a move away from Inter Milan to boost his chances of being first-choice for France in next summer's World Cup.
I don't think that central midfield is as much of a priority as centre-back, right-back or left-back, but that's not to say that another player - particularly one of Vieria's experience - would not be useful. Our defensive crisis has made Vincent Kompany our number one centre-back, which means that cover for Nigel de Jong and Gareth Barry is limited at the moment.

And we all know what Patrick Vieira is capable of, and the options that he would provide us. I suppose this all hinges on how much of an improvement Vieira thinks a move to City will do to his chances of making Raymond Domenech's final 23. Because I'm not sure that he'd be guaranteed a regular start if he came.

the most natural box to box player in the world during his hay-day! A loan would be positive move for us.

I think we have needed a midfielder of this sort for some time, we have know one in the midfield really capable of picking the ball up and driving it forward!
