Games in hand

We've already got one game in hand - against Everton at CoMS - due to be re-scheduled. And thanks to the moved Carling Cup semi-final our game at Stoke City also needs to be played at some point in the spring. So that's another one to squeeze in.

Our squad is already starting to look a bit thin, having looked comfortably deep all season. So the idea of buying three or four extra bodies to provide cover and experience - even if they come with World Cup, European Championship, Premier League and Serie A winner's medals like Vieira - looks like a pretty good idea.

Now, these bodies Lonely, what'ya think? Mancini dosen't want to upset the incumbents too much but needs to stimulate competition in a couple of areas. The entire right side some say. Certainly left back needs to be more of a contest. I'd value your thoughts on who we might go for?

Mancini does seem very willing to play full-backs in wide midfield positions - he's done it with Sylvinho and Zabaleta so far. But nevertheless I think we might go for another one on each side. Cristian Ansaldi is a name that we keep on seeing - the Argentine right-back at Rubin Kazan. On the left I'm not so sure. And maybe another centre back, possibly Cordoba - although Vieira frees up Kompany to play centre half - or someone else experienced on a similar short-term deal.

Unless Roberto has watched a lot of videos, it's going to take him some time to realise that we need a new left-back. He is going to witness Javier and Wayne out of position, Javier and Sylvio huffing after speedy wingers, Wayne wasting possession and all three failing to persuade Robson and Martin to lend them a hand.

This will take several weeks, by which time Philip will have left Munich.

Do you think Mancini might see Barry as an alternative at left back (since he isn't really adding as much creatively in midfield as I would have thought) - and load up on midfielders?
