Votes flooding in

Well they were yesterday. Slowed to a trickle now, but the percentages are pretty fixed. The clear winner, and with a very narrow majority of votes, is the proposition that we ought to buy both Joleon Lescott and Kolo Touré. In a strong second place with 37% is the buying of only Joleon Lescott. Then there's only Kolo Touré with 8% and sticking with Dunne and Onuoha at 2%.

So my defence of buying only one defender convinced only 47% of you. One thing worth bearing in mind in all this is that the African Cup of Nations in January and February 2010 means that Nedum Onuoha would get a few games even if we bought Lescott and Touré, but, unless either of them got injured, not as many as he needs or deserves.

And don't forget that Vincent Kompany isn't exactly going to get a lot of chances in defensive midfield this season.

What makes you think VK isnt going to get many games in the DM role? His height and passing ability make him the prefered choice over Nigel.

...do I smell another poll?

jfell, Vincent Kompany is 1. Injured, 2. a Central Defender.

De Jong is the only Defensive Mid at City, just because Kompany was played internationally as a Def Mid does not make him a Def Mid, his position is CD.

Manchester City are in talks to bring Miguel Veloso to City agent Paulo Barbosa reports.

I think both Nigel de Jong and even Zabaleta are ahead of Kompany for the DMC role.

And there will be times when we might go 4-4-2 with Ireland and Barry in central midfield, and of course there's Johnson possibly coming back too.

Basically, if VK's going to get games this year it will probably be at centre half. Or, if we sign two new centre backs, in the reserves.

Migeuel Veloso - Is this really what we need? Surely a creative midfielder would be better?

I think VK would make a good CB.
But Dunne days must be numbered??
