Sky: Talks over Adebayor

Surprising news from Sky Sports: that we're in talks with Arsenal over the transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor.

I'm very unenthusiastic about this. Adebayor has serious attitude problems and doesn't sound like the sort of player who would come to City for the reasons that we would want. Moreover, I'm so excited about the Tévez-Santa Cruz partnership I don't really want anyone, short of Fernando Torres, to disrupt it.

I've heard a lot of these comments from City fans, and also the other end of the spectrum from Arsenal fans ("Yes, take him, take him, I'll drive him there myself!"). So I sort of get the idea he's not wanted by a lot of City fans and MOST Arsenal fans. But I would say that MH must see something in him that he can work with, else he wouldn't be chasing him. And as he will be at the African cup of Nations later in the year, we have cover... I think he could be a good buy personally. Especially if he has a good first season like he did at Arsenal.

i totally disagree. adebayor is premiership proven, great in the air, holds up the ball fantastically well and has great feet. he would bring a great presence to the front line and is used to playing as the target man. the only reason arsenal fans have gone off him is 'cos he wants to leave - given their lack of spending and ambition i can't blame him. he would be a great signing!

I have faith in Hughes to make the right decision. Anyway no one has confirmed it yet so perhaps it's not even Adebayor we're in for, it could even be Arshavin or Van Persie but please not Bendtner.

Hughes like his players big and or physically strong so it sounds plausible.

I'm more interested in the Injured Kompany though and keen to see who we'll get in defence.

All said and done Adebayor will give us options and cause defences a lot of trouble. The mix we have could actually be incredible.

Come on Tevez and Terry sign up it's all happening here.

Champions league? only one season to wait if you ask me but I'm sure you would make sure of it anyway if you came.

Gooner here!

Gotta disagree with Dougie about why we don't like him. It's not coz he wants to leave, it's due to his attitude and complete laziness. When he first came to us he was fantastic, tracking back, scoring for fun and showing an unbelievable workrate, but last season (after he became our first choice) he just gave up. He'd be caught offside more often than not and thought he was on par with Henry. Main problem with him is that you never know which Ade will turn up to a game

I'd love you guys to buy him. I'm sure he'd have a reasonable first season for you (unless he wasn't first choice and then he may just give up and be a twat!). But for £20m.... Hop in my car mate and I'll take you meself!

Adebayor is a fantastic player, you don't get 30 in a season by chance - despite what people might say. He has a great future. But as far as his reasons for going to Citeh and whether you like them or not.. come on, get real. Or rather, tell us, what are the reasons anyone is playing there, other than oil money?

Oil money and future glory.....people seem to be missing the latter. Five years from now players will be playing for us because we pay them well and they are winning things consistently. No different to our neighbors, Chelsea and Arsenal really!
