Jim Cassell's U18s reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup today with a 1-0 win over Norwich City.
The best reports I've found are from the MCFC Reserves & Academy blog here and Manchester Evening News here.

Jim's academy boys do us proud. Hope he gets a massive pay rise now we can afford it. Just to show appreciation of a fantastic job.
I agree with Jack. There are only a few great academies in England and City's is as good as any. Whatever happens to the team over the years, I really hope the youth team graduates are part of it.
Now is the time of the season when we should be seeing one or two of the players getting 15-20 minutes here and there. I thinking of Weiss, Logan, Sturridge, Etuhu, etc. Anyone know where and in what state these four are? I know Etuhu was at Leicester before Christmas. There's also a young lad called Johnson who is supposed to be useful.
trinder - you mean because we'll be 2 or 3 up in all our remaining games and can bring the young lads on without any pressure? Or do we concede the place(s) in the league, concentrate on the Uefa and bring the lads on? Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see the kids too, but I'd be interested in seeing when. The cups are out so its the league or nothing. The league pays more too.
You should certainly bring them on if we happen to be 2 or 3 up but I'd play them in tight games too. The 1st team have given us next to nothing in away games all season so what's there to lose? I've seen dozens of games that are desperate for pace and energy, only to watch as a slow forward or like-for-like defender is introduced.
you have a nice blog here mate...
actually, I'm an Arsenal youth fan, and looking forward to meeting you in the semis..
couple of q's for you:
- any idea why Oliver Nicholas was let go? He chose to leave Arsenal before Christmas to move to you lot.
- any idea if a Man C. website is showing the game live on Wednesday?
