City v West Ham player ratings

Given Very little to criticise really. Is it too harsh to say that he ought to have palmed Savio's shot somewhere other than to Jack Collison? Otherwise an impressive display. 7

Richards Started quite well but pulled up after being fouled by Scott Parker just fifteen minutes in. n/a

Dunne Our best player. Had very few problems with either the tricksy di Michele or the rather less subtle Carlton Cole. Has formed a partnership with Onuoha better than any other we've had at centre back this season. (Although Richards and Ben Haim was pretty good...) 7

Onuoha Another solid game from one of 2009's most improved players. He's never going to be Baresi but could well be a more assured Premier League centre half than Richards ever will be. 7

Bridge Slight improvement in his defensive play on recent performances. Still impressive going forward - that first assisst can't be far away. Could have cleared the ball for Collison's goal? 6

de Jong Poor today. His passing was sloppy, he never imposed himself on the game as we hoped. Allowed Scott Parker to run the midfield. On today's evidence we spent £18million on the wrong midfielder. 4

Kompany Looked as if his injury was impeding him. Not as energetic or effective as usual. His phyiscal presence in midfield is of great benefit but that aside his passing and control were poor. 4

Zabaleta Fifteen minutes in midfield, when the game rather passed him by, and then the rest of the match at right back. He was better there (he's a better right back than Richards), if never exceptional. Could probably do with a rest, may not get it though given the injury situation. 5

Ireland Off the pace all afternoon. Started on the right of the front three, before moving into central midfield. Did not really influence the game from either position, and while he did try hard the touch and ingenuity of recent months abandoned him today. Like Zabaleta, will be lucky to get the rest he probably needs. 4

Bellamy Unlucky to get moved out of position early in the game. Ran hard with little reward. We could do with his knee problem not being serious if we want to finish in the top half. 5

Robinho Another poor away performance. One glaring first half miss was his only noticeable action for the first hour. Slightly more influential in the second half but with no end product. This dip in form is coming at the worst possible form. Let's hope he's fit for Wednesday though. 4

Subs

Caicedo Well marshalled by Matthew Upson, he didn't cause too many problems and blazed his two half-chances over. 5

Elano A few well placed passes, and almost a fantastic free-kick. 6

Bozhinov. The re-re-birth. More on him later. n/a
