City v Aalborg player ratings

Given Had very little to do but looked as comfortable and assured as ever. 7

Richards One of his best games for a while. Defended well and was a real threat galloping up the right flank. His first goal since September 2006 can't be too far away. 8

Dunne Another performance of total security from the captain. Not a great preparation for facing Drogba on Sunday though. 8

Onuoha Steady as ever, admittedly with not much to deal with. Should have scored a header from a corner. 7

Bridge Assured in defence, if a bit quieter going forward than we're used to. 7

Zabaleta Had a lot of work today with Kompany and de Jong absent, but bore the burden bravely. High energy, he excelled at breaking down play and also passed well. Edging ahead of Kompany as buy of the season? 8

Wright-Phillips Like Dunne, has returned from suspension rejuvenated. Maybe our players should get sent off more often. Perfect for our counter-attacking game, again. And his goal was magnificent. 8

Ireland Inexplicably allowed to play by AaB, and he ran the game. His passing and running from midfield were top quality, and his flicks were better than Robinho's. 9

Elano A good platform for him but he didn't quite meet expectations. Some nice passing but nothing special. 7

Robinho Could have got his first goal of 2009, failing to convert two or three chances. Bizarrely not awarded a penalty in the first half. Passing and movement as good as any other home game. 8

Caicedo Took his goal very well, and while he worked hard he didn't quite have the movement or the nous which would have put us three or four ahead. 7

Subs

Evans Lots of effort and running, as ever, from young Ched. 7
