Santos claim Robinho wants out

Some quotes today from Santos President Marcelo Teixeria:

Santos president Teixeira said: “Robinho has asked if we can suggest what he does now. He is unhappy at City and has expressed an interest in returning to Santos as well as talked over other possibilities for the next step of his career.”

Robinho, now back in Brazil on holiday, had a 90-minute meeting with Teixeira at the club headquarters on Thursday. Apparently that was when he raised the possibility of following the examples of Ronaldo and Adriano and returning from Europe to Brazilian football.

Teixeira, however, conceded: “It would be difficult for us because of the costs involved.”

I'm not sure what to make of this. For a start, I'd want to see them translated and carried by a more reputable source than 'sportsfeatures.com.' But they could well be genuine. Robinho's very good at lots of things, but acting and speaking sensibly is not really among them. I mean, if he was a really sensible professional he wouldn't have left Real Madrid for a mid-table Premier League club just because his dream move to Chelsea didn't come off.

But anyway, it's not like Santos are going to buy him off us any time soon. Let's wait and see what else drifts over from Brazil between now and the start of pre-season.

Teixeira was the guy who backed up Pele to say what an arsehole Robinho was for leaving Real Madrid. Don't think we need to read too much into this particular literary gem, do you?

You have to ask yourself why Robinho would want to talk to this guy or the club. Adriano and Ronaldo (you know the one trying so hard to join City not the show pony)were only able to rejoin Santos because they are finished as World Class footballers.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that Santos couldn't afford to buy Robinho from City (they probably couldn't even afford Danny Mills.

On Robinho's Official Site on the 28th May it states -

"Robinho was very happy with the affection demonstrated by the fans in the match against Bolton. The incentives shouted by the crowd, directed at teammate Gláuber Berti, in the final minutes, demonstrated how passionate Manchester City´s fans are.”

"Robinho also said that he is very happy and proud to play in a club that has such wonderful followers."

So who do you believe,a questionable source of the player himself?

Subsequent to this the Guardian is attributing the source back to Reuters, "sportsfeedback" merely being part of the email contact address, although strangely this story appears on neither the UK or Brazilian version of the Reuters site.

I live a long way from "home".
If I go back and visit the family, it's quite normal that my mum would say "Oooh, it's nice to see you - you'd like to be back here sometimes wouldn't you?" and for me to say things like "Thanks for the roast dinner, Mum - I wish I could stay here longer"

Do I really mean those things? Hmm. I suspect that Robbie says much the same in Brazil, it must be great to be back there, I don't doubt it, but the possibility of him signing for Santos this summer is about the same as me being traded for Lionel Messi to come and play for my futsal team.
