Hughes: Ireland talks progressing

As the on-off contract talks of one ludicrously talented Academy graduate look like they've hit a wall, those of another may well be back on track: Mark Hughes has said that Stephen Ireland's contract negotiations are going well:

Hughes, whose side host Bolton tomorrow, said: "The decision-making is getting positive.

"We want to get it done and dusted and give Stephen the assurance going into the new season that everything is sorted.

"We've recognised the progress he has made this season and would like to reward him for that."

Hmm he said the same thing this time last week, provoking superman to respond with a hearty 'OH REALLY?'.

Here's hoping there has been real progress since.

Nice pieces btw, are you hoping to move into journalism?

What has writing "nice pieces" and journalism got to do with anything? I prefer the Stephen Fry slant, that journalism is venal and disgusting (look at the host of fantasy stories about City in particular and everything else in general). My guess, is that Jack, is in the process of becoming a Professor at Oxford. They do joined up thinking and writing as part of that process.

Not quite so sure what the above comment is all about Jack, but if it's supposed to be negative it's totally undeserved, keep up the excellent work - without doubt the best City blog on the net.
