Hughes on the win

From his BBC interview:
"We're a team that's in transition, we're a team that's building and going in the right direction and we try and play football the right way. We try and get the ball down and create chances, we have good movement in forward areas and we've got talented players at the club. When we're free flowing and we've got our tails up we're very difficult to contain."
And from Sky:

"As soon as we were able to get the ball down and play and get our good players involved in wide areas and further up the field, then we were always going to create chances and that's what happened. We scored the goals at good times. We were delighted with that at half-time.

"We've won back-to-back games in the Premier League, which is really important and we're very much in the mix for the seventh spot."

Hughes is reading from the average managers handbook of stock responses.
Its bloody spin and is meaningless actually read what he said, it could apply to any match.
The guy is running on empty and has no passion for either the club or the match.
A poor game salvaged by one scruffy goal one Robhino magic touch and an Elano penalty.
Hughes breathes again.

Al Davis (owner of the Oakland Raiders and a senile jackass) said it best: "just win, baby." It may have been ugly (match wasn't shown in the states, so can't comment), but it's still 3x points for the good guys.

I hope we haven't (or ever) become so jaded that we find fault with a win, especially given where we've been this season. Without question, Hughes has his faults (I am not a big fan), but the team's on a roll and making a run for European football.

As long as Hughes keeps all digits out of his nose while being interviewed on TV, he can say the same crap 99% of all other managers in every other sport say - nothing. At least he's not SAF babbling about how (pick one: a) his poor team, b) Ronaldo, c) Rooney) is being singled out for harsh treatment by (pick one: a) the press, b) the refs, c) their parole officer, d) their hair dresser). Winning/secure managers can be interesting, but not those with their jobs is on the line.

If we can get 7th, this will have been a successful season - thanks to or despite MH.

We got a win against a team that we've famously struggled against, and we're playing in our best formation again. Now forget that one...

Next week, we have the opportunity to cement our claim to a European place, while doing untold damage to the old enemy. They don't come any bigger than this. The City fans are always magnificent at the swamp. So this one is down to the team. Do it City. For us!
