City 3 - 1 Blackburn

  • Another home win, another step on the road to seventh. Spurs and West Ham both won, so it's not going to be easy - but two wins from our last three games should give us a good shot.
  • I didn't see the game today - if you did please leave your thoughts in the comments. From what I've heard it was a good team performance and a comfortable win. Most pleasing must be Robinho's third goal in three games. He's now on fourteen in the Premier League which is a good return for someone's first season in England.
  • Elano's penalty makes it ten out of ten for him from the penalty spot at City. I think we can credibly ask whether he is the best penalty taker in the Premier League? I'd love to see him do a shoot out against Lampard.
  • If you were there, let us know what you thought.

A wretched match where with 3 direct shots including a penalty we were 3-0 up at the break.
Another non performance by Bridge to boot. The guy is coasting and should be dropped, our passing throughout was weak.
The defence was half asleep after Givens double penalty save conceding a goal when they should have cleared.
That said it's a our first win against Blackburn at Eastlands but boy didwe make hard work of it.

Efficent from city, less wastefull than usuall. Caicedo took the 1st goal well, i'm happy he's impoving with each game, shame hughes didnt show the same patients with JO.

Elano Robinho and Ireland when pushinf forward were simply too good for blackburn, never really got out of thrid gear. The game was finshed by half time.

After the halftime horlicks we came out slow, lethargic and sat back...and generally did very little, with the odd break. Good to see Petrov come on, some glimpses on what we know he can do with that wicked left foot.

Blackburn and are very dirty side, the ref let them get away with alot. Tugay should of been booked at least once. They didnt cause us much trouble, pressure sure, bt not much quality to worry us. The pen was odd...dont know why we were so slow to react to the third rebound!

Elano is brilliant at pens, Hughes touched on his technique and how it worries him, he could never had been so relaxed hitting a pen.

A good result, deserved!

watched from up in the gods where i could witness the great runs of ireland-not always fed, but his energy and commitment cannot be faulted.

micah had another (much needed) good performance, some great foraging runs and solid defending. not sure about the canter back though-consistency is the key lad!

my man neddie who didn't have much to do, but when he did, did it well. dunneninho escaped one almost comedy error of a clearance but was solid throughout.

caciedo took his goal well after neddie's poke back into the area. i was glad he got on the score sheet again, but i hate to see any of our players throw the shirt to the ground in celebration (keep hold of it, kiss the badge, anything but cast it to the floor!)
red card from me, yellow from the ref hahahaha!

not sure where our defence was for the rebound on their pen-i'm sure shay was gutted having parried it out.

kompany was a workhorse again, miffed by the amount of time dejong went to ground- his timing was out a lot of the time, but can't fault his effort.

robi and ela beguiled again, although robi shirks the odd tackle the magic of the flicks, neat passing and movement is what i pay to watch-and yeah the goal was well taken. he may look frail at times but it's compensated by the samba futebol we love. when we got the pen and ela grabbed the ball it was a certain goal! deep down, i feel a real manc/brasil kinship going on.

noticed a carnival, end of season atmosphere developing again with the 'new kippax' faithful chanting "shaunie wright" to one of our ball boys, he reciprocated w/ a wave when the other chant went up. i'm sure the majority of a support were bemused as the real swp was nowhere to be seen inside eastlands...

all in all my score prediction was spot on, although samba didn't get on the sheet for them. reading sparky's reports tell's you all you need to know about allardyce's punt and hope, survival tactics. two more things to play for still though. bragging rights (of sorts) and 7th spot.
