Eventually

It's taken ten months and fifty three competitive games, but in the last four matches we've finally moved towards fulfilling one of Mark Hughes' main responsibilities: playing like a balanced team, a well-functioning unit.

A shame that it's taken too long - it's possible that fatal damage has already been done to Hughes' reputation in Abu Dhabi. But I feel more confident about taking the necessary six or seven points from our last three games to take seventh than I ever thought I would during those dark winter weeks.

I agree with Tommy the Blue. The impression I get is that maybe we fans read the trashy British press, but our owners are more intelligent and worldy wise to fall for the cheap propagands issuing from the cockney reds working in Fleet Street.
My feeling is that Mark Hughes will get at least 3 seasons to show what he can do. And, that is exactly what we need.

United away, Spurs away, Bolton at home. With the calibre of players we've got we can certainly do it. As long as he doesn't start tinkering (Sparkyizing?) again...

i reckon he has done well to get it working his way in 10 months - question is whether the hierarchy will see it that way. in my opinion he HAS to be given another season. to be honest qualifying is a double edged sword - fail and the domestic campaign could benefit through less games, succeed and we could attract middle tier european players. However I think in player's mids it's champions league or nothing. europa league is league cup equiv.
