Gelson in Swiss squad

Another City legend to be starring at the World Cup: Gelson Fernandes has made Ottmar Hitzfeld's 23 man Swiss squad.

His midfield battle with Xavi and Cesc Fàbregas in Durban on 16 June will be one of the most hotly contested in the group stages.

Actually I think Spain vs Chile should be a cracker of a match. Spain's brilliant possession football versus Chile's high tempo attack (astutely coached by Mario Biesla).

The Swiss are defensively sound but boring and I can't see them being able to cope with Spain's passing game. Gelson is indeed likely to perform a headless chicken act as Xavi, Iniesta and co. effortlessly pass the ball through the middle of the pitch. Spain will literally have to self-destruct for the Swiss to realistically have a chance.
