Barry plays in England win

Gareth Barry played again yesterday as England moved into the last sixteen. Starting again as the deepest of a midfield four, he still did not look fully fit but made a few important interventions in front of our defence. His passing was good when looking wide but at times he tried something a bit too penetrative and conceded possession. Still a vital part of the side, though, he is sure to play in England's last sixteen game with Germany.

City legend David James was assured in goal, and City target James Milner played well down the right, putting the cross in for England's only goal.
