It's well known that Roberto Mancini was a protégé of Sven-Göran Eriksson, having played under him at Sampdoria and at Lazio. We know that Mancini has spoken to Eriksson since taking over.
Perhaps as a result of those conversations, or maybe just out of a sense of loyalty to his mentor, he has brought back two players that Eriksson signed for City in the summer of 2007: Martin Petrov and Javier Garrido. It's worked - Petrov scored against Stoke, and Garrido scored againt Wolves.
I just hope that this doesn't apply to Benjani too.

Who knows, if Elano had stayed? As for Benjani, perhaps he should start at Old Trafford...
prhaps it's because petrov is our best passer in the final third. he hit two absolutely stunning passes last night, both of which should have led to goals.
and as for garrido, who else is left to pick in defence and midfield?
Mancio will soon discover how slow Garrido is, and how badly he passes the ball.
We all know Garrido does not cut it, and Sylvinho, and Bridge so Mancini will replace our leftback spot.
Mancini will bring in a few midfielders and a striker too if he sees fit.
well with our injury problems, they have been given a fair chance! But garrido a bad passer? I dont think so, he's quite good on the ball, the problem was he got caught out at the back!
He along with sylvinho are good footballers and in an organised side they dont look out of place!
