Richards His best game for City since autumn 2007, when Eriksson played him at centre back. He defended with more nous than we expect and attacked with real vigour. Seems to work very well with his mate SWP in front of him. 8
Toure Started well with a perfect tackle on his compatriot Drogba and maintained those standards throughout. 7
Lescott Another step forward. Marshalled Drogba and Anelka excellently - I have never seen them quieter. 7
Bridge No calamities in defence, fewer raids down the flank. A solid performance until he went off injured. Will Hughes play Sylvinho? 7
SWP Followed his heroics on Wednesday with another excellent game. He followed Ashley Cole all over the pitch, shutting down one of Chelsea's main creative channels. No fireworks going forward but enough to trouble JT and co. 8
De Jong Relished the physical battle with Michael Essien - the one man in the Premier League who tackles harder than he does. Denied the Chelsea midfield any space, and put in some tackles even better than his usual efforts. 8
Barry A welcome return to form, he showed his class in the midfield battle: looking brighter and cleverer than Ballack and Deco, which is some achievement. Filled in at left back - may do so again next week. 7
Robinho A big game for him and he didn't look fully ready. After winning an early freekick he was barely involved, although he did track back more than we are used to. 5
Tevez Another very good game - non stop running, and a few good dribbles with the ball too. His free kick will do wonders for his confidence - could still reach 20 in all competitions. 8
Adebayor Blameless for the own goal and took his real goal well. Not back at his August levels yet, but a bit closer. 7

I'd give NDJ a 9/10, he was like two men. Robinho wasn't impressive as an individual, but the great news is that he's playing for the team: his positional play was excellent.
I'd have to second that, but I would give NDJ a 9.5. It was an awesome show from him - I doubt we will see a better, cleaner performance from a DM in the prem this season.
De Jong got a 6 in The Times; Barry got a 5.
Deco, Ballack, Essien and Lampard got 7s.
Astonishing.
If we had been playing at this level much earlier,we'd be much higher in the table..but better late than never.Did anyone see Robinho refuse to shake Hughes' hand when he was taken off?A very decent performance from our boys.
very harsh on Robinho, and he did shake hughes hand, but he also shook the carlo's hand aswell, after argueing with him during the game!
His passing was superb, he tracked back, didnt bomb forward at the end and held the defensive line, a very team motivated performance, considering he had only played 60 for us previously since a 3 month lay off. 5 is fucking harsh! haah
and yes de jong was prob deserving a 9!
I would have to say that NDJ was outstanding as was Barry. 9.5 and 9 out of 10. Richards was even good!! I thought Robbie was excellent in the first half when I could see him in front of me - 2nd half couldn't see that well over the other side, but he did track back and played for the team. Amazing atmosphere when the put the lights out before the game. But unless we perform against Bolton it will be all for nothing!!
