That's the news coming out of the Spanish papers this morning.
After hearing of Eto'o's apparent refusal to join City, Joan Laporta has offered him a two year extension to his current deal - thus taking him up to 2012.
There's no real indication of whether Eto'o will accept this or not - if the offer is an extension rather than a pay rise I imagine that he might not - but I'm sure it will be clarified at this morning's press conference.

I think it's at 11 AM Spanish time so that's 10 AM BST. Fifteen minutes away!

"Eto'o se queda" says El Mundo Deportivo. Ah well, we tried. If City are still intent on bringing in a top-class striker, doesn't Eto'o's decision to stay put an end to Benzema's move?
The Lyon manager, Claude Puel, is said by Sky Sports to have confirmed that no bids have been received but they would be willing to sell. As well as being another terrific goalscorer, he's also supposed to be one of Ferguson's main targets.
So Barca has OFFERED him a new contract and he would LIKE to stay. It's all set up to appease the fans, right?
Does the silence from City tell us that the club hasn't given up hope of persuading Eto'o to join, or is it just a post-Kaka policy of commenting only on deals? As nothing has ever been said about the approach, offer or negotiations, I think sadly it's the latter.
