A note to the idiots

Don't boo Stephen Jordan or Tyrone Mears tomorrow.

Just don't.

Why do people do this?

And what is the purpose behind the chant "The Referee's A Wanker"? Is he likely to think, "you know, the crowd has a point. Better give some wrong decisions in their favour."?

Booing Jordan or Mears would be rediculous but chanting about the ref being a wanker is alright enough. If he makes some crap decisions he will be expecting it. The ref is also Mr. Stuart Attwell who is also king of refereeing cock ups so expect at least one rendition of that particular ditty.

Surely there's absolutely nothing to boo these about anyway?

They're hardly villian-esque.

I read in the Indy the other day that Tyrone Mears almost became a Rugby League player instead of a footballer, he had a contract with The Wire apparently.

Didn't stop City fans booing Samaras, Corluka, other former blues...

Ditto to what Steven McInerney said - it hadn't remotely crossed my mind that either of these might be booed!

How bizarre. There is absolutely no chance of either of those players being booed tomorrow.

It had not crossed my mind to boo these guys, why would we?

As for Corluka, Samaras and the likes of Distin they 100% deserved what they got in my opinion.

Corluka left us for a similar standard team just to be with his mate, ok he has been Modric roomate for years but he is a pro footballer and he shouldn't have gone.

Samaras was slagging us off after he left. He, a useless 6 million pound lump had the cheek to slag a club off that paid all that money for him when we were skint, it was not City's fault he wasn't good enough and should not have taken it out on us.

And Distin another one who claimed he wanted to win a trophy left us for Pompey, granted they somehow won the FA Cup but you do not join Pompey if you intend to win something. To rub it all in and prove he went to Pompey for other reasons, after he left he did an interview and said had he seen Pompeys training ground before he signed that he may not have! A player that doesn't visit the club he is joining before doing so is not going there for football reasons.

Oh and I was a big fan of two of these players but a bit of pantomine booing for what they did is no harm and makes the atmosphere good.

I'm not saying the referee isn't a wanker, Gratian. Just wondering what it is supposed to achieve. Maybe some people find it cathartic.

Anyway I agree with everyone else about Jordan and Mears - absolutely no reason to boo them whatsoever.

Why any City would even remotely contemplate booing Jordan is beyond me. He was never the most gifted player but the one thing you could count on was that he would give 100% commitment every time he put on the shirt. I still have found memories when Keegan through him into the mix at the swamp in November 2004 (a goaless draw)and put in excellent shift with United getting absolutely no joy down City's left. Glad to see he's playing first team football at an EPL side.

You said: "Corluka left us for a similar standard team just to be with his mate, ok he has been Modric roomate for years but he is a pro footballer and he shouldn't have gone."

Firstly, I don't think you can say it was 'just to be with his mate' - clearly Spurs wanted him more than City, with Hughes wanting Zabaleta. Also, it is probably more attractive to move to a city which has generally nicer weather, more attractions, and one where he can regularly meet up with 2 of his national team-mates (Eduardo and Modric).

But my main point addresses your claim that 'he's a pro footballer and shouldn't have gone'. I don't see why not. It's just a job and he moved jobs. It was clearly a more attractive job, as otherwise he wouldnt have moved.

So why should normal people be allowed to move to a more attractive job and footballers not be?

And why was Spurs more attractive then us at the time, because they finished up with one more point than us? Everyone knows that he went there to be with Modric it is common knowledge within the football world.

Plus we wanted him, Hughes refused to let him go and Corluka pushed for it. He wasn't sold until the very last minute because Hughes wanted to keep him!

I really don't see what was more attractive, nicer weather? I wouldn't leave my job in Manchester to go to London for slightly nicer weather.

For the most part I don't understand the booing of ex-players. The (very few) people who do it probably have some sort of psychological issue with loss. Maybe they grew up without a father or something...As to the players mentioned in this thread - only Corluka had remotely a mercenary aspect about it. As to Samaras' comments about City - it isn't particularly mature - but that's just a reflection of his frustration with his inability to live up to expectations. Him being at City didn't suit either party and so everyone is better off with him not being here. What's the point of insulting him? Distin gave good service while here, and stayed longer than someone purely after money. And how 'loyal' have City been with the Dunne move? Modern football is a constantly changing landscape. Player moves are a given, particularly for City with their newfound purchasing power. Get used to it...

i seem to remember corlukca saying that he left for a BIGGER club.how wrong he was.

whatever the reasons were for his departure, he wanted to leave, and people switch jobs all the time. that's just the way the world works. get over it.
