Deadline day: three hours left

Things not looking as promising as they earlier this evening.

It is reported that Dimitar Berbatov has undergone a medical with Manchester United, and there has been little further mention of contact with Manchester City. But until United have a bid accepted, as we have, I have no idea how this will turn out.

Sky Sports News' Alan Myers just said (21.05) that there have been no bids tabled for either David Villa or Mario Gomez, contrary to earlier reports.

One move that Myers claimed was still possible was for Robinho. He said that a bid has been made (something now being reported), but time, and the player's own wishes, would seem to be distinctly against us on this area.

Balague says City bid for Robinho

Guillem Balague has just been on Sky Sports News saying that City have lodged bids for David Villa, Mario Gomez and Robinho.

But he thinks either Villa or Robinho moving to City is unlikely - Villa due to his new contract, and Robinho due to a lack of time. He predicted a new and higher Chelsea bid for Robinho later this evening.

He has also claimed that Real Madrid told him that they have not made nor shall they make a bid for Dimitar Berbatov.

And City target Diego Milito will not be going to Spurs - but to Genoa.

Nine and a half hours left: Hughes to meet Berbatov

Sky Sports News reporter Peter Stevenson has just been on 'Football Today', talking to Alex Payne, claiming that Mark Hughes is playing golf in Worsley today.

More importantly, he reports that Mark Hughes has confirmed that City have made a bid for Dimitar Berbatov (believed to be a transfer record), and said that he will meet him later today. There have also been bids for other players.

UPDATE 14.54 Sky Sports News is now reporting that the bid for Berbatov has been accepted.
